Hello everyone!!

It has been quite a while I haven’t post another post since the last post.

This Sunday, I join an event that was created by Bina Nusantara University and also TFI (Teach For Indonesia) and that event is called Charity Run.  The event was held on the 30th of October 2016. It started at about 6.30 A.M. and ended nearly about 8.30 A.M. The Charity Run is a 5 km run around Alam Sutera Downtown.  Charity Run were created to collect fund for the one who is suffering cancer which is supported by braclet of HOPE . By joining this running we are donating money from the registration fee which is Rp 100.000,-. These kind of events helps people to do exercise which is jogging/running.

As we all can see, these days many people are getting overweight because of unhealthy diet each day. So, if some people wanted to donate money for those needy one and wanted to get fit, these kind of event would help them accomplish all of that. In their mind, they would also think that they run for the better good of other and help to motivate other to donate for the poor and get fit for the better self. Overall, by joining Charity Run, I get to spend times with my friend with exercise not by going into a cafe and talk. It also create a better bonding within friends and also I get to met with one of my old friend during the event.

Whats up Everyone?

Its me again Bernardus!!

So today I’m gonna tell you guys about the activity that we do during orientation week or Fresh Enrichment Program (FEP) as it is said in Binus University. Many people would think that the orientation week will be the same as orientation week in high school where the older brother and sister will bully the new students/ the freshman.

If you guys think like that, than you are very wrong. In Binus University, freshman were treated just the same as other and no, freshman were not bullied by their older/big brother and sister in University. Instead, they welcome new students with jokes, laughter, and many good things. The Fresh Enrichment Program consist of General Orientation(GO) for 1 weeks, Academic Orientation(AO) which lasts for 2 weeks,Campus Life Orientation(CLO), and also Organisational Skill(OS).

The General Orientation are all about introduction into the University building and also an introduction about what we should and shouldn’t do as a college students. It also helps people to built relationship between the new students and the older students. It also helps the freshman to get to know each other and become friends. In General Orientation, the University also introduces the new students into many type of community inside Binus including Himpunan Mahasiswa Teknik Informatika (Himti), which I have explained before. They also help us to get into groups of different religion which help us to get together with people who have the same belief as what we believe. It also open doors for us to get to know other people from other major. For example, I met new friends from other major such as Business Creation, Finance and many other.

Then after the General Orientation, comes the Academic Orientation. In Academic Orientation, the freshman were taught about how the Academic rule works in Binus. They were also introduced to their teachers, their “Form Teacher” and even the Dean of Computer Science Major. Binus gives many information about this and that because they are preparing the freshman to enter their university life in this General Orientation.

Campus Life Orientation runs for 1 semester. It is the time where we started our journey in university. In that spend of time, the freshman were going to get used to the university environment and also to the schedule of their class. Along side with all of the GO, AO, and CLO there is also one most important thing in Binus and it is Organisational Skill. Organisational Skill also consist of how we could upgrade our soft skill and hard skill. As I said before, students get to chose which community they want to enter and what religion they beleived in. In that community and group, they are required to be active so that they could be open to other people and be an easy going person which is the goal. The goal for people to have organisational skill is because it sharpens one’s soft skill such as leadership, obedience, truthfulness and many other things.

Yup, this is all the stuff about Fresh Enrichment Program in Binus University. I hope those who read this will get the idea about what we will learn, we will get and how we are treated as a freshman.

Hello Everyone,

First and foremost, let me introduce myself. My name is Bernardus Kurnia and I took Computer Science Major in Bina Nusantara University (Binus). So as a freshman, I started this journey by making new friends and get to know the bigger brother or bigger sister in the campus through many events and one of them is HTTP.

What is HTTP? Isn’t it the thing that you type in the tab of google chrome or safari? Yes it is, but there is another type of HTTP. HTTP is the short term for Himti Togetherness Top Performance. Himti is also a short term for Himpunan mahasiswa Teknik Informatika ( Community of computer science students). Himti itself is the biggest community in Bina Nusantara University.

So, what is this HTTP event? HTTP is an event where the big brother and big sister in Binus University Computer Science major create to welcome new students. It is like a welcome party for new “recruits”. Just like many years before, many people will join and sign up to be a new students in Bina Nusantara University. This event are made particularly for new students each years. So it can also be said that HTTP 2016 is exclusive only for Binusian 2020 and there will be no more welcoming party for Binusian 2020. Every year there will always be another HTTP but it is only exclusive for new students who join Bina Nusantara Computer Science major. Next, I want to tell you guys more about HTTP.

HTTP is an exclusive whole day event created for Binusian 2020 only. Inside HTTP, there are many useful things that you can learn and get. Not only you can learn many useful things, inside HTTP you can also create new friends and have fun. Before the event start, new recruits were given a chance to know their teacher’s name until the Dean’s name.

Then, there are some performance from the new recruits and also from the big brother and sister in Binus University. They sang songs and they even made an illustration about Binus Computer Science’s students life. 

To add more fun, they make games in each session.

And going to the end of the event, they have dance crew and also some special performance.

Not only we get the fun and new friends, we could also get Himti kit which consist of the starting pack for coding and also Himti T-shirt and goodie bag.

There is only one chance to get this experience and that is on HTTP. So, what are you guys waiting for come and join the fun!! See you guys there at HTTP Binusian 2021 next year!!
